Start planning for the annual Calgary Heartbeat Run in support of the Calgary Health Trust and Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta!

Come out on September 25, 2016 and participate in the 10km run, 5km Run/Walk, or the 1km Fun Run!
This scenic course starts and finishes in the new community of Chaparral Valley. Don't miss out on a great fall day where you will overlook the Bow River and the breath-taking views of trees turning colour and leaves falling.

Location

The event is based next to the soccer fields by Chaparral Valley.  HBRMapLogoSee Map for details

Chaparral Valley is located in the deep South of Calgary. Easiest access is off of MacLeod Trail SE (Hwy 2A). Turn East onto 194ave SE, continue past Walden (on your right) and Lake Chaparral (on your left). Head down the hill about 1/3rd the way and turn left into the parking area.

Parking

Parking is available in the lot just below the Chaparral Truck, Car & Pet Wash (next to the soccer fields & our start finish area).  
Please arrive early as parking is 'first come-first serve'.  Additional parking is available in the Walden shopping centre.

Race Day

Sunday, September 25

  • 8:45am - 9:45am Late package pickup

Course & Event Details

The 10kmHBRMapLogo  

Starting on the trail next to the park, athletes will head down the hill approximately 50m and then take a left onto the paved trail.  Athletes will follow the trail and have a nice downhill section followee by a long stretch along Bow Bottom Trail.  This is an out and back course.  There is a water station at the 2.5 and 5k points.

The 5km HBRMapLogo   

Starting at the same point as the 10km event, athletes turnaround at the 2.5k point and return to finish. Enjoy the climb!

The 1km   

A simple out and back course along the trail!  

All events are chip timed!
 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

WATER STATIONS 
Refreshments are served at three stations per lap (2.5km, 5km & 7.5). You can choose between Sports Drink and water.

THE FINISH LINE 
After passing the finish line please move forward 200 meters. Just past the finish, you will find fruit, muffins & more! 
Our medical services will also be available here. 

DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES 
We will not be providing age group awards at this years event.  

RESULTS LIST 
Results will be posted onsite as they are updated and official results will be posted on our website within 24hours of the event.

Proceeds from each annual Heartbeat Run will support pressing Heart Health priorities with our local charity partner.  These priorities help to create excellence in and impacts health care by raising funds to anticipate and respond to needs for research, education and patient care.

Raise $500  Receive free race entry to next years event
Raise $750   Receive a Tech T and entry to next years event!
Raise $1000+  Receive a $100 Running Room Gift Card!
 
Complete pledge forms and donations will also be collected on race day at the charity booth.  
Tax receipts will be issued for gifts of $20 or more and will be mailed out by the charity at the end of the year.  
Prizing will be made available by the end of October.
